Rirkrit Tiravanija
Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1961 – lives in New York, United States of America; Berlin, Germany; and Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Rirkrit Tiravanija graduated in arts from the Ontario College of Art, in Toronto (Canada) between 1980 and 1984. His works are platforms for artistic activities, whether public or private.
They are usually architectural structures conceived in their social/collective dimension: stages or rooms where the audience can share meals, read, or play music. In his projects, the active participation of the spectator is faced as essential to it. And in such a way that captions of his works usually bring “a lot of people” as part of its materials. Throughout his career, he participated in the biennials of the Whitney Museum of American Art (USA), Sharjah (United Arab Emirates), São Paulo, and Venice (Italy).
