Inaugurated in 2006, Galeria Lago was the last temporary exhibition space to be built at Instituto Inhotim. Designed by architect Paulo Orsini, the structure is marked by the lack of openings connecting the space to the outside, in order to provide a neutral aspect that privileges the presentation of the artwork in the space – thus evoking the idea of a white cube more than any other building of the Institute. Its placement close to the lake gave the inspiration to name it, a distinctive feature of the temporary galleries: their names are associated with surrounding elements and functions previously performed in each building.
