Education
Inhotim Music School
Music is power when it comes to education. By means of sensory experiences, the Inhotim Music School is split in three projects that stimulate artistic skills, develop sensitivity, and broaden the cultural perspective of its participants.
The Inhotim Music School counts on the exclusive sponsorship of Vale through the Federal Tax Incentive Law for Culture.
Escola de Cordas
Songs for your ears by the hands of young people from the region of Brumadinho. The Escola de Cordas was created in 2012 to promote musical education for free in string instruments – violin, viola, cello, and double bass –, with the purpose of demonstrating and broadening the artistic potential, as well as the sociocultural development of 80 youngsters who take part in the project.
Orquestra de Câmara Inhotim
After the conclusion of their education in the Escola de Cordas at age 18, the newly-graduated can become part of the Orquestra de Câmara Inhotim, also open to music students of Minas Gerais, selected each year through a call. Composed by 25 music students qualified in violin, viola, cello, and double bass, the chamber orchestra has a repertoire of major artistic value, bringing together pieces from the learned canon, as well as Brazilian popular, folkloric, and contemporary music. The OCI also bears the mission of promoting culture in districts, maroon communities, and countryside areas with little access to art.
Canto Coral
The musical gatherings of the choir Canto Coral add an extra shade to the lives of children, adults, and seniors. Through musical education and therapy, participants are able to reactivate their affective memories, to take care of their emotional health, to increase their self-esteem, as well as to develop their creativity and several other forms of artistic expression.
