  Drawing from long-term research on pesticides in the Caribbean (Martinique and Guadeloupe), Malcolm Ferdinand is discussing the forms and the meaning of justice in the face of a permanently disrupted Earth. Loving the planet is a political proposition for justice intended for humankind—a proposition that, in its conceptualization and formulation, implies a new way of inhabiting and making the world.

• 3 p.m. – Som da Maloka With Raphael Escobar (São Paulo) ↓

  Som da Maloka (Sound of Maloka) is an audio piece and documentary created by Raphael Escobar in collaboration with Mc Kawex, Denis Alberto, MC Meia Noite, Pagode na Lata and Blocolândia, presented at Inhotim as a talk-performance.

  Som da Maloka aims to tell the cultural and musical history of an area of São Paulo known for high public drug use known as “Cracolândia” (“Crackland”),

  highlighting some of the forces and forms of resistance that emerge from there. The work creates a counter-narrative about the territory, using recordings of music composed by people who frequent the area and participate in local collectives and cultural projects.
