To celebrate World Environment Day, Inhotim prepared a program focusing on the Cerrado. From June 1 to 5, the 2022 Inhotim Environment Week – Ser do Cerrado offers a free program. Inhotim’s Botanical Garden and Educational teams invite you to discover Cerrado’s biodiversity in two Mediated Visits. In the Mediated Visit Bastidores do Viveiro [Behind the Scenes at the Plant Nursery], visitors will explore the gardens of the Educational Plant Nursery, learn about plant breeding and botanical collections located inside greenhouses and shade houses.

On June 1st, the first edition of the Visit will be mediated by Juliano Borin, Botanical Curator at Inhotim — Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) translation is available. On June 5, Samuel Gonçalves, creator of the social media profile Um Botânico no Apartamento, will lead the visitors — Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) translation is available.

Visits are free of charge, limited to 25 people. Starts at the Reception at 10 am. 2-hour duration. Spots are limited and registration must be made in advance at the reception.

Inhotim’s Educational team also invites you to the Ser do Cerrado Visit. Taking the botanical collection and the species from the Cerrado present in it as a starting point, visitors will get to know and reflect on this biome and the elements of flora, fauna, cultural aspects, the main environmental impacts and the direct relationships established with the Cerrado.

The visit will take place from the June 1 to 5, during Environment Week, always starting at the Reception at 2 pm. Spots are limited and registration must be made in advance at the Reception.

The Mediated Visits program is part of the 2022 Inhotim Environment Week – Ser do Cerrado. To celebrate World Environment Day, from June 1 to 5, Inhotim offers a

free program, for audiences of all ages, featuring lectures, mediated visits, workshops and cultural performances, and inaugurates a new educational space at the Institute—the Meliponary.

Ser do Cerrado is a project carried out in partnership with the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Minas Gerais through the Platforma Semente, with funds from environmental compensatory measures. It proposes a series of measures articulated by the Public Prosecutor’s Offices throughout the state, aiming at the protection and recovery of the Cerrado.
