Rebeca Carapiá, “Apenas depois da chuva” (2024)
Commissioned by Inhotim, Apenas depois da chuva (Only After the Rain, 2024), by Rebeca Carapiá, is a sculptural installation composed of 20 pieces, each measuring approximately five meters. The set will be on display from October 19 at the lake near Mata Gallery and Tunga’s True Rouge Gallery.
The new work is the result of the artist’s immersion in Serra da Capivara, in Piauí. The work presents a reflection on the relationship between water and territory, investigating the writings found in the drawings and sculptures at the site. During her research trip, Carapiá created drawings that make up Apenas depois da chuva. Born in Salvador (BA), the artist is recognized for her iron and copper sculptures, which reveal a unique and poetic language.
The installation, curated by Beatriz Lemos and Deri Andrade, is a continuation of Rebeca Carapiá’s research on the interaction between natural and sculptural elements, forms and landscapes.
A first in Carapiá’s artistic process, the pieces were made in collaboration between her, the metalsmith Gabriel Silva Santiago and the institution’s metalworking team. Furthermore, the new, more monumental scale was possible through the technical partnership with the Studio and Production teams.
Apenas depois da chuva has Vale as a Master Supporter through the Federal Law for Culture Incentive.
