As part of the Program Abdias Nascimento e o Museu de Arte Negra, Praça Gallery, one of the most visited in Inhotim, will host, A noite suspensa ou o que posso aprender com o silêncio [The suspended night or what I can learn from silence] (2023), by the artist Mônica Ventura (1985).

The work was commissioned by the Inhotim Institute for the central span of the gallery and proposes a look at the surroundings and the local potency of the site through a large-scale installation.

The wall, bed and sculpture that make up A noite suspensa ou o que posso aprender com o silêncio (2023) were built with soil from the Brumadinho region, and invite viewers to unveil the various layers present in the artist’s work, whether stemming from the materiality or the symbolism related to religious practices of Afro-Brazilian and Amerindian ancestral origin.

Colors and shapes of the work also disrupt the notions of feminine and masculine to address notions of the synthesis of the energies of the universe. The openings at Praça Gallery in 2023 are sponsored by Shell, through the Federal Law for Culture Incentive.
