A collective and open space aimed not only at reading, but at the various forms of knowledge, occupied by artists, scholars and collectives that propose new ways of looking, organizing and complementing Inhotim Institute’s book collection.
This is the goal of the Ocupação Inhotim Biblioteca [Inhotim Library Occupation], which debuts with the bibliographic, visual and sound selections proposed by Jaime Lauriano, a São Paulo-based artist who aims to build a collection focused on Pan-Africanist thought, in dialogue with the Abdias Nascimento and the Black Art Museum project, on view at the Mata Gallery.
Jaime Lauriano’s research addresses traumas caused by historical processes, by reviewing the official version of History, in an attempt to achieve a collective reconstruction that incorporates silenced narratives.
Ocupação Inhotim Biblioteca [Inhotim Library Occupation] is part of the Território Específico [Specific Territory] program, the research axis that guides Inhotim’s program in the 2021–2022 biennium.
