On May 4, the Inhotim Institute will hold the conference Pedagogias do Encantamento [Pedagogies of Enchantment], taught by author, researcher and pedagogue Luiz Rufino (RJ). The meeting marks the opening of the 12th edition of Inhotim’s Decentralizing Access Program.

The research and practice project in the field of education, nature and arts is aimed at building the experience of teachers and students of basic education with contemporary art production drawing from the museum’s artistic and botanical collections. The goal is to reflect on the way in which we produce views, knowledge and solutions to problems in contemporary education.

In 2024, the Decentralizing Access program addresses the theme “What is creation?”, a defining question for several instances of life on the planet. Creation will be approached from the point of view of teachers, artists, scientists…

After all, if creation is not exclusive to the field of art, how can it be understood as a form of presence in the world? How can teachers expand their notions about what creation is, in contact with researchers from different fields?

This year, we join forces with the Faculty of Education of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), which will host the event. There, participants will have the opportunity to experience a program that will include a reception at the occupation Pedagogia [Pedagogy] by Paulo Nazareth, and the conference led by Rufino at the Neidson Rodrigues Auditorium.

It will be an opportunity for participants to come in contact with an inspiring discourse on the topic and the methodology of the project, which starts on May 18 and will have 100 seatings for teachers in basic education.
