Silvana Mendes, author of the series “Afetocolagens,” on view at the exhibition Quilombo: vida, problemas e aspirações do negro, uses collage to incorporate new elements into images that represent negative narratives and stereotypes imposed on black bodies, and to modify them.

Based on the artist’s work, Educativo Inhotim proposes a workshop for creating new discourses through the art of collage. In addition to contextualizing the artist’s technique, the activity also invites Inhotim’s visitors to create works that deconstruct their own narratives.

The workshop will be held on July 19 at the Burle Marx Culture and Education Center at two times — 10 am and 2 pm. The activity is suitable for all ages and is limited to 25 participants.
